Base Stations

A base reference station is required to achieve centimeter accuracy with Real Time Kinematic (RTK) GPS. APS base stations feature the Astrum GPS receiver and a choice of radios – including a 35 watt UHF transmitter.

Overview

APS can supply base stations suitable for receiving signals from the GPS satellites, GLONASS, GALILEO and other future systems such as the Japanese QZSS.
APS can sub licence our Australia wide frequencies or we can assist you to apply for a site specific licence.
There are a number of standard open access and proprietary code formats for GPS correction signals. APS can install some of these and can work with base stations from most other suppliers. However we recommend the internationally recognized standard RTCM version 3.0. This code format is as efficient as proprietary codes such as CMR Plus, and allows the user to operate GPS receivers from different suppliers. Follow the link for a technical paper from IGNSS detailing different formats and their advantages.
